Hello

I started as a painter back in the 70's, heavily influenced by the New York  avant-garde school. By training and inclination, I work in an abstract idiom, but use things I see in the environment around me as a starting point. Several years ago, I started a project that took me into the textile design world and I haven't looked back since then.

 

As a West Coast Canadian I am deeply affected by the landscape I live in: mountains, ocean and forests. My work references these elements through the colors I use and the visual patterns they create. Above all, I aim to create things that have a sense of beauty, that reflects the positive we can see in the environment around us. In other words - Designs to Live With.

I explore the past and present of textile design, mixing historical-cultural sources with contemporary influences to create unexpected patterns and colour combinations with a cutting-edge graphic treatment. Designs are lush, sensuous, and detailed or as simple as possible: elegance combined with the everyday.

Mostly ​I create designs for the home décor /interior design markets but, stray into the fashion side of things when I get a good idea.
